We pick you up from your hotel and then drive away from distracting city lights to the darkness of the winter forest. Should we have small a bit of luck on our side, the sky will be cloudless and clear. We walk a short distance with our snowshoes on to an open area under the flaming Aurora Borealis lights. But, even if we are not so lucky and the clouds cover the sky and the Aurora Borealis spectacular, we can experience the dark and thrilling tranquillity of Lapland’s nature. Here we light a small bonfire and sit around it enjoying delicious evening snacks with true and pure Lappish flavours, which are being prepared for us by our experienced guide. Our guide further delights us telling facts, fiction and strange folk beliefs of Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights.
With a peaceful and rested mind we head back to the city – hopefully under the flaming sky.

Sampo Icebreaking Cruise Sampo, the world’s only tourist icebreaker, operates in the northern Gulf of Bothnia from the town of Kemi in Finnish Lapland.
